I am sure that the first March-Over was undertaken
with a bit of extra solemnity and it is well known that '59 did
not have much of a sense of humor. But note that, if you
took it seriously, you were marching with your
eyes "in the boat" and did not have a clue what was
going on in front of your company or behind it.
I know that in your second Plebe year, the March-Over's were a
bit relaxed (and we were the Color Company). We did,
however, attempt to look sharp for the March-On's. It's
hard to get real serious when your singing "The
Spoiled and Pampered Pets of Uncle Sam" to a bunch of St
Johnnies with hair hanging down to their arses.
If they had wanted a real P-rade, they would have made us carry
our M-1s.
